Woodrow W. 'Woody' Simonds, Sr., age 65, of Penacook, NH died on June 19, 2009 at Concord Hospital after a long fight with many medical issues.
He was born July 20, 1943 in Springfield, Vermont to Elwood W. Simonds and Veronica E. (Willette) Simonds. He was raised by his mother and stepfather George Lambert. He attended and graduated from Springfield, Vermont High School.
While in Springfield, he owned and operated his own Taxi business then worked for Jones and Lamson Machine Tool Co. After moving to NH, Woody was employed by Edgecomb Steel, Zodiac News affiliated with the Boston Globe and McCordwinn for many years.
Woody is survived by his wife of 35 years, Catherine (Brophy) Simonds; a daughter: Chrissy Simonds and a son Woody Simonds, Jr. both of Manchester, NH, 3 grandchildren; a brother: Stephen Simonds of Winterville Plantation, ME and several nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Gathering will be held on Wednesday, June 24, 2009 at 4:00pm in the Phaneuf Funeral Home, 243 Hanover Street, Manchester, NH followed by a Memorial Service at 5:00pm. Relatives and friends invited to attend.
