OBITUARY NOTICE

JOHN L. FORTIN



MANCHESTER – John L. Fortin, 56, died suddenly on Friday, July 16, 2010, at the Elliot Hospital, in Manchester.

He was born in Manchester, NH, October 26, 1953, the son of the late Roger and Claire (Gagnon) Fortin. He was a lifelong resident of Manchester.

Prior to this, John was a pastor at Faith Christian Center, in Bedford, and later at Believers Christian Outreach, in Manchester. He also worked for the United States Postal Service and had his own painting business. John was a volunteer, with his wife at the NH State Prison for Women.

Members of his family include; his wife of almost 30 years, Celeste E. (Lessard) Fortin, of Manchester; his two sons, Jonathan D. Fortin and Benjamin J. Fortin, both of Manchester; one daughter, Nicole J. Fortin, of Manchester; 3 grandchildren; one brother, Larry Fortin, of NY; two sisters, Suzanne Orenstein, of Manchester; Pauline Doan, of VA; five nephews and three nieces.

IN HIS LIFE: His life was one of putting others before himself daily and living out 1 Corinthians 13. Many people were touched by this incredibly gentle and compassionate man. He was the best of husbands, fathers, sons, brothers and friends. He will be sorely missed.

SERVICES: Calling hours will be Monday, July 19th at Phaneuf Funeral Homes, 234 Hanover St, Manchester, NH, 03104, from 5 – 8 PM. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday evening, July 20, 6:00 PM at Shiloh Christian Fellowship Church, 55 Edmond Street, in Manchester. A time of fellowship will follow services. Private burial will take place at a later date in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, in Manchester.
